It's Earth Day.

It's Earth Day.

🌧 It's raining here at Forest Fairy headquarters. 🌿 Warm, slow, quiet, soak-the-soil kind of rain. It's so soothing, I can feel myself slowing down to the tempo of the dripping. The spring flowers are out, here in Asheville, in full bloom... the azaleas, dogwoods, even the peonies are about to pop. 🌸 I ate some serviceberries in my yard yesterday. The photo here is from a hike to a nearby waterfall with my beloved Max a few days ago.

I also am aware that as I write this, innocent Americans are being detained, deported and arrested. What I am choosing to do is to be aware of both realities, in this moment. I have been choosing to watch the news and to tune into what is happening, more than I have in the past. I went to a protest a few weeks ago. Maybe our democracy, as we have known it, is over. And maybe the unjust things that are happening right now are making way for something that is truly more integrated and uplifting. I don't know, and truly, no one does.

It's challenging to talk about how we all feel about what is happening, and I feel that we need to. I'm still not ready to "come out" about all that I am feeling in a mass email. I might be ready for individual conversations, though. Maybe we can start with here: What do you feel? Since it's Earth Day, let's remember - our bodies are extensions of the Earth. Everything we have and that we are have come from the Earth. Do you feel grief? Do you feel a sense of resonance with what is happening? Where do you feel those things in your body? I would love to hear feedback from you - how is your heart? How much conversation about "current events" is happening in your circles? What if we convened online to talk about current events and news sources? Would that interest you?

At Forest Fairy headquarters, we're still working on the Forest Fairy Festival - it's just over a month away, now. We added a "Pay What You Can" ticket purchase option. And we are asking folks to bring fairy lights for decorations, as well as musical instruments... I just added those to the packing list.

I'll say it clearly: In our Forest Fairy space, we welcome queers, radicals, people of all ethnicities, genders and skin colors. We all have an equal right to feel safe and at home here.
