Thanks to all who joined last night for "Touching the Mystery" - an introduction to transpersonal eroticism. What a delicious and tender circle of humans! I felt all of your hearts so sweetly... thank you for supporting each other in erotic kindness.
I leave today for my Spring Equinox sadhana. During this past winter's solstice ceremony, I made a commitment to myself that on the equinoxes and the solstices this year, I'll be in a personal spiritual practice, or sadhana. "Sadhana" is a Sanskrit word that is sometimes translated as "accomplishing something". My inner workaholic loves that translation! It reminds me of something my friend Jeremy used to say:
"Spiritual practice always works." -Jeremy H.
Why is that true? What does spiritual practice actually accomplish?
When we set aside time for practice, pleasure, peace, pondering, there is an inevitable shift. It may be small, but it's there. We are pulling the threads of the tapestry of the Universe, in our own unique way. Spiritual practice makes the collective weaving more beautiful, one small shift at a time.
What will this sadhana entail for me? I plan to start the days with yoga and meditation, and end the days with a shared meal and fire ceremony. There will be time with the trees, the rocks, the creek and the birds. There will be time to listen to the wind and to read the codes:
"Because we know ourselves to be made from this earth" - Susan Griffin (Woman and Nature)
My intention for this sadhana is to connect with that deep knowing - that I am made from this earth. I'm grateful to my friend and spiritual partner, Leila, for co-creating this practice with me, and for the morphic resonance of our many shared hours at Play Ashram.
Your prayers and support during this time are welcome and appreciated. I'm going to be contemplating the state of my business and my work. I feel a new offering emerging - something simpler, more cohesive and more powerful - that supports me and you in more effectively creating the world we want to live in.
The spring equinox is Thursday March 21.
Earth Day is Friday March 22.
If you are able to set aside some time for your own spiritual practice, contemplation, self-pleasure, journaling, forest bathing, woods wandering, prayer, art-making during this time, share with me your experiences and let's support each other in our journeys. Let's be in this together.
